“School Choice and Community Renewal,” an updated report released by School Choice Wisconsin, details the substantial positive impact of school choice on urban renewal in Milwaukee neighborhoods.
Since the onset of choice, seventy-nine schools have spent over $126 million on one-hundred and fourteen new school, and existing school improvement projects.
Information for the report was obtained through a survey of private schools participating in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, Independent Charter schools, and Milwaukee Public School Partnership schools.
"Many of the projects involve new and renovated schools in areas of high poverty. The projects help stabilize these neighborhoods and take tremendous fiscal pressure off the Milwaukee Public Schools and its taxpayers," said School Choice Wisconsin President Susan Mitchell.
