School Choice Wisconsin

School Choice Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization that seeks to ensure an honest debate about school choice by providing accurate information on the impact of school choice on families, communities, and schools.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, home of the nation's largest and oldest voucher program for low-income families, School Choice Wisconsin supports expanded educational options for parents through the use of school vouchers, charter schools, and innovative public-private partnerships. School Choice Wisconsin's experienced staff works with students, parents, taxpayers, and communities interested in school choice programs in Wisconsin.

School Choice Wisconsin provides comprehensive and timely information on educational options in Wisconsin and voucher programs nationally. The organization's extensive website is used by reporters, elected officials and staff, and education researchers across the country. School Choice Wisconsin also hosts informational visits to Milwaukee by groups from throughout the country interested in understanding the city's innovative educational programs.

Susan Mitchell
Susan Mitchell is President of School Choice Wisconsin. She has worked for more than 15 years with parents, employers and community members to expand parent choice in Milwaukee. She formerly was the president of the American Education Reform Council, now the Alliance for School Choice. She served as Wisconsin Commissioner of Insurance and was a reporter for the Wall Street Journal. She has held leadership positions in private business and was a special assistant to former Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Howard Fuller. She holds a Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Mary Eighme
Renee Bartelt is Director of Operations for School Choice Wisconsin. She is responsible for the financial management of the organization. She previously worked in the finance department at the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and as an auditor for KPMG. Renee is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Mary Eighme
Mary Eighme is Executive Assistant to the President. She manages the School Choice Wisconsin office and maintains communication with the School Choice Wisconsin board. She has worked with Susan and George Mitchell on school choice issues since 1994.
Mike Ford
Mike Ford is a Research Associate for School Choice Wisconsin. He conducts research and collects data about school choice programs nationally. In addition, he writes and disseminates information regarding school choice, including website text, newspaper editorials, and nationally released reports. He holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Marquette University.
Felice Green
Felice Green is Director of Communications for School Choice Wisconsin. She has worked in media, public and community relations for more than 10 years. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Milwaukee Chapter of the Black Alliance for Educational Options and coordinates the organization's public information campaign to increase awareness and inform low-income parents about supplemental educational services and public school transfer options under the federal No Child Left Behind law. Felice is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Brett Healy
Brett Healy recently joined School Choice Wisconsin after working 12 years in the Wisconsin Legislature. Brett has a B.A. from Marquette University and is married with four daughters.
George Mitchell
George Mitchell is an advisor to School Choice Wisconsin. His primary responsibility is to coordinate School Choice Wisconsin research activities. George is partner in the Mitchell Company, a project management and public policy research firm he founded in 1985. He was Assistant Secretary of Revenue and Acting State Budget Director for the State of Wisconsin in the 1970s. In 1984, Gov. Anthony Earl and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Herbert Grover named him to chair a commission studying education issues in Milwaukee. George attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
